Beach Renourishment Crews Mobilize to Add Additional Sand Near Lighthouse. The Lighthouse Beach Parking Lots are Closed Beginning Monday, April 22nd.

April 20, 2024

City of Sanibel Department of Natural Resources has identified areas near the Sanibel Lighthouse that will receive additional sand in response to erosion from recent weather events. Permits have already been acquired for more substantial renourishment at Lighthouse Beach Park to occur in the Fall of 2024. Fortunately, contractors are able to begin the project to restore the berm before sea turtle nesting season begins in May.
